Pesticide Use in the 1950s
Clipped from the late 1950s film “Goodbye, Mr. Roach” produced by the Clemson College Extension Service
Before 1978, chlordane was also used as a pesticide on agricultural crops, lawns, and gardens and as a fumigating agent. Because of concerns over cancer risk, evidence of human exposure and build up in body fat, persistence in the environment, and danger to wildlife, the EPA canceled the use of chlordane on food crops and phased out other above-ground uses over the next 5 years. In 1988, when the EPA canceled chlordane’s use for controlling termites, all approved use of chlordane in the United States stopped. Manufacture for export continues.

Horticultural Society of Pakistan’s Flower Show 2009 (Part 2 of 4)
Every year in either late February or early March, the Horticultural Society of Pakistan organizes a mega flower show in Karachi (the largest city of Pakistan). So this here is my first ever try at making a long video of it! Venue is of course DHA’s seaview beach park. I unfortunately could not capture the gardening tools which were on display, as my camera’s battery ran out of juice. But everything else was recorded.
This is the 2nd of 4 videos. I regrettably had to split the video in 4 parts, because the original file was too large to upload here. However the full version can be see on Vimeo (in much better resolution).
