What do geologists think about the potential duration of the Icelandic volcano eruption?

Author: I’m wondering if long term disruption of supply chains should be anticipated as well as potential impacts on agriculture. I would encourage a discussion of the "year without a summer" 1816, in the the context of this current event in our modern interconnected global networks.
The last time this volcano erupted, it lasted a year.
