Home gardens are great. Grow your own veggies! However, if HR 875 passes the government will have within it’s power to regulate your veggies. This seems like a set up, like the poor farmers in Africa and around the world that the large agri-business have enslavened to THIER products. Seeds the must be BOUGHT EACH SEASON that WON’T grow without THIER fertilizers and pesticides.

Sustainable Development (Highlights)
In this pair of films, designed for schools, Excellent Development provide case studies of their conservation driven development and community-led approach in semi-arid Kenya through the lenses of sustainable farming and sustainable development. These films and the series of mini-films which explore each individual element of the charity’s holistic approach to soil and water conservation offer a valuable insight into how communities can strengthen their long-term sustainability and make a positive grassroots contribution to fighting global climate change.
The sustainable farming case study demonstrates how farmers address problems of soil erosion and water availability using terracing, sand dams & trees as a first step towards sustainable farming. The terracing and trees massively reduce soil erosion and keep more moisture in the farms while the sand dams harvest rain water allowing farmers to dedicate more time to their farms, try out new farming methods like zero-grazing and inter-cropping, diversify the range of their crops and work towards achieving food security and generating incomes.
The sustainable Development case study explores why conservation of the environment has to be addressed first in order to make sustainable development possible in a semi-arid environment and looks at the impacts of soil and water conservation in terms of the improved availability of water and food, improvements in health, incomes and the positive contribution towards fighting climate change. The film also picks out the elements that make the development sustainable; the positive impact on the natural environment, Excellent Development’s bottom-up approach and the use of appropriate technology.

Factory Farming: A REPORT CARD – Part 1 of 5
We have a huge health and environmental scandal in our modern industrial system of meat and poultry production. The damage documented in today’s factory farms far exceeds the damage that was depicted in Upton Sinclair’s novel, The Jungle, a book written over 100 years ago. Some scientists have gone so far as to call the condemned current factory farm practices as “mini Chernobyls.”
The European Union stands virtually alone in establishing strong health and environmental standards for the industry. In the U.S and elsewhere, the meat and poultry industry is dominated by dangerous uses of arsenic, antibiotics, growth hormones and by the dumping of massive amounts of sewage in fragile waterways and environments. This video documents the vast catastrophic impact on the environment and public health.
As one observer noted, if terrorists did this, we would be up in arms, but when it is a fortune 500 company, it is just “business as usual.”
In 1906, public outrage at the scandal exposed by Sinclair led to major reforms that cleaned up a corrupt and dangerous system.

Pig Production is the first part of a vital new series of educational resources for agriculture, veterinary and animal science courses.
Future resources will cover other species and farming practices such as broiler chickens (chickens bred for meat).
The resources are based on a combination of animal welfare scienceand the practical experience of farmers. For each species this will include a fully-referenced book incorporating case studies exemplifying good practice.
GAP will be a valuable tool for lecturers, educationalists, vets, farmers, students of agricultural and veterinary science and for all who make decisions which affect the welfare of farm animals.
Good Agricultural Practice is a concept evolved by the Food andAgriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO). Good agricultural practices:
produce safe, healthy, high quality food for consumers
provide jobs with fair incomes for rural communities
are socially and environmentally sustainable
provide high standards of animal welfare.
The aim of Good Agricultural Practice should be to achieve development that is both humane and sustainable.
